The cottage
Stable Cottage was a stable, laundry, hay loft and garage back in the day. It is now a very comfortable 3-bedroom self-catering cottage full of character, colour and texture throughout, and boasts little luxuries such as a Grind coffee machine, Roberts radio, plush textiles, and an interesting small library of books. We’ve worked hard to create a unique and relaxing place to stay, and hope you will sink into it and enjoy.
The cottage sits within the grounds of Ashfield House – an elegant Georgian property dating from 1824, with substantial gardens comprising a large front lawn with sweeping driveway, a walled garden, a small wood and a field. It has its own outdoor seating area at the back, with Hikki woodfired outdoor bath, firepit and pizza oven, and looks onto the wood and field. The cottage is only a few metres from the house, but it retains a peaceful ambience, and guests are free to roam the grounds as they wish.

PARKING :: at front of cottage in front of whisky barrels - space for up to 2 cars
The hosts
We are the Crouchers, a family of 4 plus our extra-friendly canine, Daisy. We live in the main house next door to Stable Cottage. Iain runs an independent whisky bottling business, North Star Spirits Ltd, and Zoë worked for years in the Film/TV industry as an Art Director.
We will always extend a warm welcome, and more than likely be on hand should you require any help with anything. We understand that you might just want to keep yourselves to yourselves – but we also understand that you might want to ask us more information on something, and we will be more than happy to oblige. You might find our two young children wandering about the grounds, and you will almost certainly meet our dog Daisy, who doesn’t let anyone escape her welcome wiggle.
Stable Cottage is really an extension of our home, and we welcome you wholeheartedly.
