A lot of thought and attention has gone into making Stable Cottage as environmentally sustainable and eco-friendly as possible.

Examples of how we have done this include the fitting/use of the following:

• Air source heat pump for all heating and hot water.
• Nearly all textiles are of 100% natural materials such as cotton, linen, wool, viscose etc.
• Solid wood kitchen units with natural cork flooring.
• Kitchen worktop made of Silestone, made from recycled materials and natural minerals.
• Metal and wooden kitchen utensils and cleaning equipment rather than plastic, where possible.
• Cleaning cloths and towels made of natural / biodegradable materials.
• Eco-friendly cleaning products.
• Eco-friendly soap and personal products.
• Biodegradable bin liners.
• Antiques and second-hand furniture.
• Light fittings made from glass, wood, ceramic and metal, rather than plastic.
• Aluminium rather than PVC conservatory.
• Tiles and wooden flooring.
• Timber doors and windows.
• Recycling facilities.
• Eco-friendly paint on walls and woodwork throughout.
• Short toilet flush option (hold the handle down longer).
• Compostable coffee pods.
• Guppy Friend washbag for plastic fibre clothing such as polyester, acrylic and nylon.
• Generally limiting plastics wherever possible and instead using natural materials throughout.

The natural envieonment is very important to us, and we are fortunate to live in an area of outstanding natural beauty amongst a thriving ecosystem.  

We are mindful that the water from our treatment plant goes straight into the waterways, and we would like to think that we can limit microplastics getting into the natural environment as much as possible by not using plastic textiles - but if we do need to wash any plastic textiles, we can use the Guppy Friend washbag which holds back most microplastics from going down the drain in the wash.
